The short version
| Allowance | Lasts |
|---|---|
| Free trial | Until the trial ends, or until a paid plan starts |
| Solo and Business, each month’s allowance | The month it arrives and the two months after |
| Team Pass | Until the pass ends, 12 months after you buy it |
| Team Pass renewal | Until the new end of the pass |
| Top-up | 12 months from purchase, usable while a paid plan is active |
| Previous paid plan | Until its original expiry date |
Swops always uses the allowance that expires first.
Solo and Business: a new allowance every month
A fresh allowance arrives every month: 100 scans and 5 analyses on Solo, 2,000 scans and 100 analyses on Business. This happens monthly when you pay yearly too. The plan card in Account shows the date, for example Monthly allowance refreshes 13 Nov 2026.
What you do not use rolls over. Each month’s allowance stays usable in the month it arrives and in the two months after it, so you never hold more than 3 months’ worth: 300 scans and 15 analyses on Solo, 6,000 scans and 300 analyses on Business.
An example on Solo: in your first month you use 30 of your 100 scans. When the second month starts, 100 more arrive and you have 170. The 70 left from the first month are used first, because they expire first. Anything still left from the first month expires when the fourth month begins.
When a subscription ends, no new monthly allowance arrives. As the cancel screen puts it: “Monthly allowances end with your paid period.”
Team Pass: one allowance for the pass
A Team Pass brings 500 scans and 50 analyses for the whole team, to use any time during its 12 months. There is no monthly refresh. Whatever is left when the pass ends expires with it.
A renewal brings its own 500 scans and 50 analyses, usable straight away until the new end of the pass. What is left of the current pass keeps its own end date and is used first. See Renew a Team Pass.
Top-ups
A top-up lasts 12 months from the day you buy it. It can be used only while the workspace has an active paid plan, and it is never cut by the 3-month limit above. Monthly allowances usually expire sooner, so they are used before a top-up. See Top-ups.
When you change plan
- Free trial to a paid plan. The unused trial allowance ends when the paid plan starts. The review step says so: “Your free trial allowance ends when Solo starts.”
- Paid plan to paid plan, for example Team Pass to Business, or choosing a plan again after one ended: unused paid allowance keeps its original expiry date and shows as Previous paid plan. Scans left on a Team Pass stay usable on Business until the day the pass would have ended. See Change your plan.

Open Account›Allowance & expiry details. The Allowance & expiry sheet lists every allowance with something left, earliest expiry first: Included allowance, Purchased top-up, Previous paid plan or Free trial, with the scans and analyses left and Expires with the date.

A top-up that cannot be used right now says needs an active paid plan to use. With nothing left, the sheet says No allowance left in this workspace.
The rules in the app’s own words are under Account›How allowances & retention work (on the laptop, How Swops works in the sidebar).

Leftover scans or top-ups do not extend a plan or how long your contacts are kept. When paid access ends, the 30-day export window starts whatever is left. Expired allowance is not refunded. See What happens when a plan ends.
