“A new version of Swops is ready.”
Swops updates itself: there is nothing to download from an app store. When we publish a new version while you have Swops open, a banner appears at the top: A new version of Swops is ready. with Reload.
Tap Reload when it suits you. It is never forced, so you can finish what you are doing first. Your contacts and settings are all still there after the reload.
If you are in the middle of editing a contact, tap Save changes before you reload. Changes you have not saved are lost when the page reloads.
Swops looks for a new version when you come back to it, and now and then while it is open.
The app on your home screen still shows the old version
An app on your home screen can keep running in the background for days, so it may hold on to the version it opened with. Close it fully, then open it again:
- iPhone: swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause (or double-click the Home button), then swipe Swops up and away. Open it again from your home screen.
- Android: open your recent apps (swipe up and hold, or tap the square button), swipe Swops away, then open it again.
On a very slow connection the app may first open the copy it already has, so that you are not left looking at a blank screen. It picks up the new version the next time it opens with a good connection.
On the laptop
Reload the browser tab. If it still looks old, reload it without the browser’s saved copy:
| Browser | Keys |
|---|---|
| Chrome, Edge, Firefox on Windows | Ctrl + Shift + R |
| Chrome, Edge, Firefox on Mac | Cmd + Shift + R |
| Safari on Mac | Cmd + Option + R |
A screen reloaded by itself
Right after an update, a screen you open may reload once by itself to pick up the new version. That is normal and happens at most once.
“That did not work.”
If one screen fails to draw, you see That did not work. and Something went wrong on this screen. We have been notified. with Reload.
- The rest of Swops keeps working. Use the menu to go to another screen, or tap Reload.
- We really are notified: the error report reaches us automatically, and it is designed to leave out the content of your contacts.
- If the whole app fails to open, you see the Swops logo with the same message and Reload.
If the same screen fails again after a reload, contact us with what you tapped just before, your phone or laptop and your browser.
Still stuck on an old version?
As a last resort, remove Swops from your home screen and add it again (Add Swops to your home screen), or clear the stored website data for app.swops.ai in your browser’s settings. Your contacts are not affected, but you will need to sign in again with an email code, and Swops forgets which workspace and collection you last used on that device.
