Three jobs, three small packages

Swops uses AI models from companies in the United States, under EU safeguards, for three jobs. Each one receives only what that job needs.

JobWhat the AI receivesWhat it does not receive
Reading a cardThe photo of the cardAnything else in your workspace
Researching a businessThe company name, its website, the country and your confirmed company contextThe contact’s name, email address, phone numbers, notes or priority, and the card photo
Drafting your company contextThe website address you type, so the AI can read your public websiteYour contacts

Reading a card

When you scan, the photo of the card goes to the AI to be read, and a smaller copy is kept with the contact. See Card photos: what is kept and where.

When you scan your own card for My card, the photo is read the same way but not kept at all.

Researching a business

A business analysis is about the company, not the person who gave you the card. The research starts from:

  • the company name on the contact,
  • the website. If there is no company website on the contact (or only a social media page), Swops uses the part of the email address after the @ instead, such as hollinmoordairies.co.uk. Never the address itself, and never a personal email service such as gmail.com,
  • the country, when the contact has one,
  • your company context, if you have confirmed it, so the brief can say why the business may matter to you.

The AI then searches public web sources about that business. The brief is written from those sources, and they are listed at the end. See What is in a brief.

Drafting your company context

Draft from website sends the website address you typed. The AI reads your public website and drafts your company name, what you offer and who you serve. Nothing is used until you review it and tap Confirm company context. See Add your company context.

The providers

The AI and email providers work on Swops’ behalf, under contract and under the safeguards described in Where your data is stored. Swops lists them by what they do and where. For the current list by name, contact us.

Good to know

  • AI can be wrong. It can misread a card or mix up two businesses with similar names. Check what was read, and check a brief’s sources before relying on a detail. See Check the sources.
  • No automated decisions about you. As the Privacy Notice says, Swops does not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
  • AI is always your choice. Manual entry uses no AI, and a business analysis runs only when you tap Analyse business · 1 analysis.
